Sanctification

For Spiritual Formation here at the Training College we have to give a presentation on someone who has influenced us spiritually over the years, I chose Samuel Logan Brengle, the great holiness teacher of the Salvation Army.

As I've been reading over his books and biographies, God gave me an insight to what Samuel teaches about.  God told me that I've been born to be sanctified, I've been called by His will for His glory, and a critical part of achieving all these things is to be totally blameless before Him.

Brengle writes in the introduction to his book 'Helps to Holiness',  "He satisfied me- I weigh my words - He satisfied me!  He satisfied me".

Have you ever had that experience of being totally satisfied??  As I've been reading God has been showing me and sanctifying me, it is totally amazing, right now as I type, I am satisfied.  Even though I know I haven't been sanctified through and through, God has given me something to work towards, and sooner rather than later, I'm going to live totally within God's will for my life and live a totally sanctified life - He requires it of us, and therefore it is possible!

Hallelujah - God is good, all the time!!

"This is the will of God, even your sanctification... For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness"
1 Thessalonians 4:3,7

Some people who "live in God's will" blow themselves, and other people, up with explosives.

Some people doing God's will in the Old Testament performed mass-slaughter and rape on foreign groups of people.

Are you prepared for the nuttiness that comes with "doing God's will"?

Be careful, you don't want to end up in an asylum for the mentally incapacitated.

Hey David,

Where is that example you talk about where God told people to go and rape foreign groups of people??

I don't think God has ever told anyone to go and blow up people with explosives either, well not my God anyway.

Nuttiness comes with doing God's will, it's all a matter of perspective, isn't it!? What does it look like if I was mentally incapacitated anyway, just wondering in case I start showing the symptoms.

It's been a while David, good hearing from you again mate! Bless ya :)

The following article will explain why the Salvos are theologically incorrect:

I don't see how this article proves anything David, other than the difference between the religious rites of the Catholic and Salvationist churches. God only askes that we seek him with hearts that strive for holiness.

David, it seems your approach is always one-sided and are fixated on trying to prove soemthing to your own satisfaction. As a consequence your contributions are somewhat useless to the ongoing discussions your try to become involved in. We know know what's out there and the articles and sites you point to. Time you got beyond the mudane.
