The Ten Commandments

A new movie is on it's way - a cartoon of 'The Ten Commandments' staring actors such as Christian Slater as Moses and Sir Ben Kingsley as the narrator.

Do you know the 10 commandments?
Have a look at this;

">

In case you can't 'remember' the 10 commandments from God - an easy way to remember them is;

I dolitary

A dltery - Don't worship idols
M urder - Don't commit murder

T ake - Don't steal
H onour - obey your parents
E nvy - Don't be jealous

L ie - Don't ever lie
O ne - Only one God to worship
R est - On the sabbath
D isrespect - Don't use God's name in vain

Exodus 20 has the commandments that God told us to follow if you want to look them up for yourself!

"You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name"
Exodus 20:7
How well have you tamed your tongue?

Hey Simon regarding the dont ever lie statement. Do you think its ok to say something as a joke, eg. when i said that comment about "my wife suggesting that i go to the elective"? Also do you think its ok to lie to save someones life ect?

If God says don't lie then you can't lie! If it was a joke and all the people present knew it wasn't true, but a joke, I suppose it would be funny, but people wouldn't have known in that case and would have been misled, so I see that as a lie.

To save someone's life, I can't think of an example where that would work, but I'd look again at my first sentence of this comment box.

Thx for the answer Simon, but isn't what god actually said "dont bear false witness"? insn't that a little different from lieing? don't some forms of lieing not fall under the categorie of bearing false witness?

Are you trying to find the 'loop holes' in God's word to push limits or just trying to get every detail correct?! So you see lieing is ok but false witnessing isn't?

What is the difference in your eyes?

If you're after holiness neither should be practiced anyway.

Lol yeah thats a good point, i'm not trying to find loop holes, just tring to find out if i have to stop making jokes on the grounds that it might be considered lieing
