Prayer Day @ The Salvation Army Glenroy

Hi all,

This Friday/Saturday 29/30th June, the Glenroy Corps is having its day of prayer as requested personally by God Himself.

There are many different blocks of interest (see poster - above) and if you feel you'd like to drop in, feel free to come along at any time during those 3 hours and join in. We will structure it so people can drop in and leave whenever you require to.

I believe God has been calling many Salvation Army Corps, and even the Southern Territory as a whole, to draw closer to Himself, so lets respond and take the next step in strengthening our relationship with Him and in getting Holy!

'Now we're saved, let's get serious!!'

If you'd like to come along, but don't know what to come to - I strongly suggest GAPS (Growth and Personal Spirituality) starting at 8pm on Friday night. It is a study we have every Friday night, but this study is specially tailored for this 24 hours of prayer - come along, please!

All events are at 134 Cardinal Road, Glenroy - Melbourne from 7pm Friday 29th - 7pm Saturday 30th June 2007.

Dreams

Two nights ago now I had this dream of a huge, massive eagle in our lounge room of my house. It had beautiful white feathers and a huge yellow beak. It was just sitting in the middle of the room not knowing what to do.

Mum didn't want it there, so she kept telling me to get it out and I could only get it as far as the kitchen table and then I woke up.

A while after I woke up, I kept thinking about it, and then I realised the eagle represents the Holy Spirit! I then thought, is God telling me there is large portion of the Spirit on our house?!

Last night at our Friday night meeting/Bible study, I told one of our prophet who was there and he told me that it symbolised me. The Holy Spirit is locked up in my house just wanting to get out and spread our wings!
Its so true, and I'm glad we have people that can interpret dreams!!

God be the glory!! Let me loose in Jesus Name!!

"...I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."
Joel 3:28

Therefore, am I old....

Holiness

On Sunday, our youth led the Holiness meeting - it was an amazing time in the house of God!!

God showed up and everyone present witnessed Jesus in our midst.

We didn't have just one message, but three - one pre-taped the night before, due to a last minute forced absence.

Our theme was the body of Christ. We, the ones who gave the messages talked about things such as Spiritual gifts, different body analogies, 'the body is made up from many members - but are one unit', etc.

The final talk was myself, and I drove home the point, we as the body of Christ are meant to replicate Jesus in the world today - and the biggest point was - Jesus was HOLY - so we should be HOLY also!

Leviticus 11:44 says "I AM the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be HOLY, because I AM HOLY".

We gave the chance for all in attendance to sign a covenant of Holiness and to pray for healing - since if one part of the body is 'ill' the rest of the body is effected also.

We had many come forward who entered into a covenant of Holiness with God and a few for prayers also. It was a very encouraging time for our corps!

A final observation too - as I said - the youth led the meeting but we had songs mostly from the song book compared to praise & worship songs!! There is soooo much in our songbook that is so rich in doctrine and Biblical teaching!! Our youth showed a really impressive depth in their relationship with our Lord and Saviour - I was so proud! I'm sure God was also!

"The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ."
1 Corinthians 12:12

Body of Christ

Once Jesus went back home to Heaven, He gave us the great commission. Then Pentecost came and empowered us with the same Spirit that Jesus had, the same Spirit to do all that Jesus did, and Jesus even told us we could do greater things than what He did.

We as the church today, are the body of Christ, we are Jesus in the world today to take off from where He left. The great thing is, God has given us all our part to play, so no one is doing it all, it is team work, we are a family which form the body of Christ.

Does every part of the body know it's role in the overall function of the body of Christ, not too sure, I know many parts thinking they are appendix's in the church today, which they don't know their function, but look in the ancient days, they didn't know what the brain did, they used to think we thought with our hearts - but once we mature and grow in wisdom we realise what the true function is for each part - same with the people in the church - the body of Christ.

Do you know your part in the Body? Are you functioning or making the body unwell. Do you need more vitamins and irons, more Bible studies and a better prayer life? Are you a cancerous organ that needs to be removed? Jesus is the great physician - He can heal anything!!!

"so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others, we have different gifts, according to the grace given us."
Romans 12:5-6a

Leviticus 5:1

On a side note, if you just happen to be reading this in the Glenroy or surrounding areas, could you please leave me a message and please let me know if I know you and if your a Christian and if you attend a church and anything else you'd like to add! Well, just the first two would be great! Thanks, just interested in who's reading from my area.

Just a final note - the youth are doing the meeting at Glenroy Salvo's this Sunday and we're talking about the Body of Christ and how we are a part of that. "And God placed all things under His (Jesus') feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way."

Determination

How determined are we to claim God's promises. How determined are we to pray through problems? How determined are we to get as many people into Heaven as we can?

How determined are we as people of God to be determined about anything?

Determination and dedication are two things that are generally missing in the world today. Dedication and determination in relationships/marrage, with our children, discipline, and so on.

The reason I bring this up is God asked me to make a new covenant with Him last Sunday night, a covenant to be Holy, not just know about being Holy, but acutally BE HOLY. I had to let go of things in my life that were getting in the way - 'flesh' things from being human that I had to totally give up to make this covenant. I could have very easily just said "yeah God, I'll do that" but not really entered into a true covenant!

I was determined to dedicate myself totally to this covenant with God. He asked me to do this so it must be for a purpose but most importantly - for His glory, so I set my whole self to do this - body, mind and soul. It took me a whole 10 minutes or so to pray through this before saying 'yes' and committing to it.

How often do we dedicate determined prayer to pray through things to truly commit to things like this?? This particular example only took 10 minutes to pray through, but if it took 3 hours, I still would have done it!!

We need to refuse to stop praying until we receive the blessing. I am reminded of Jacob when he wrestled with the Angel all night and refused to let it go until he got his blessing (see Genesis 32:22-31) and it even cost him an injury! For God's sake, lets be determined to finish everything we start, see it from start to finish and be determined to succeed and ultimately bring God glory!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God."
Philippians 4:6

Why should you?

If a time came again, just like when Noah was alive, when God decided to wipe out a huge part of the world because they were self indulging and sinful, but this time instead of drowning them, He'd ask them all a single question, and depending on your answer you be permitted to live or to being sent straight to Hell....

If the question God asks was "What benefit have you been to My Kingdom" or "If I keep you on Earth how will you bring glory to Me". How would you answer and would it be good enough to convince God to keep your life, living in this world.

How you live today depends on not just your eternity, but thousands of others. How are you benefiting Heaven today, are you giving people the key to a room in Heaven by giving them Jesus and His love, or are you being selfish and just keeping the greatest love to yourself?

Share Jesus with the world today

"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on the earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven"
Matthew 18:18

Are you truly Saved?

"Now you're saved - get serious!"

If you look at your life, before and after that turning point in your life when you accepted Jesus as your Saviour, is there much of a difference the way you live?

If the answer is 'not really' then take a closer look at your life - Major Marney Turner has a quote she uses - 'Jesus is enough' and He is, so if you claim to be saved and there is no difference in your life now compared to before you received salvation, why not?! Jesus changes lives, so have you really accepted Jesus as your Lord, or do you just proclaim it with your words but not your life. Are there the fruits of a Holy life in your life, that's a good measure to see.

People are going to scrape into Heaven by the skin of their teeth but why don't we want to receive full salvation, God is calling us to Holiness, if you aim to just scrape into Heaven you might find yourself missing out! You're only fooling yourself - go for FULL SALVATION, make sure there is no mistake you ARE saved from the gates of Hell.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look at Him, sinless and pure, that's what we should be aiming for and using as our role model. Samuel Logan Brengle reached a point of total Holiness the last few years of his life - he showed us it is possible, so, lets work to have that as our priority.

Our bodies are sinful, but we know it is possible in God's strength to overcome our physical and unleash the spiritual and work to become Holy!

(also check out http://whollyholy.blogspot.com/2007/05/i-believe-holiness-is-real.html for interest sake)

You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.
Leviticus 20:26
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.
Hebrews 13:12
Hallelujah!!
